Comparison of GA and topology optimization of adherend for adhesively bonded metal composite joints

چکیده

This paper investigates the effect of outer adherend geometry on strength an adhesively bonded joint. The investigation was carried out by optimizing joint using two different numerical optimization methods. In genetic algorithm (GA) with high fidelity explicit finite element analysis (FEA) and topology (TOP). Both procedures were utilized a simplified pseudo-2D model as well full-scale 3D model. results showed that directly affects subjected to tensile load. For joints bending load, had little no GA process produced identical for both 2D models. However, TOP optimum geometries. offered highest overall, while best weight ratio. reasons these other features optimized designs, including interface stress, failure mechanisms computational efficiency are discussed in detail.
